Program Description:
Managing Sustainability in the Global Environment
1-week, multi-city, 3-credit UMass Lowell course with experiential learning in Israel

Open to Honors College students (all majors) &
Open to Business majors (Grad & Undergrad. Note, Business majors do not need to also be in the Honors College)



Israel SU19

Overview: Spend 1 week traveling through 5 cities in Israel, in conjunction with UML & CIEE study abroad, where you will explore the culture, history, and archaeology of the ancient land of Israel, focusing upon water, air, energy and social sustainability. Through a series of cases, videos, site visits & lectures, we will consider the sustainability initiatives, both local and global, highlighting innovative approaches to find “sustainable solutions to the major challenges in today’s world”. Pre-travel coursework will be offered through blackboard.

Course Goals: This course is designed to help students understand the importance of integrating sustainability into business decisions in today’s global economy, considering the importance of increasing efficiencies and reducing costs. Students gain understanding, acquire knowledge, develop skills for living in a globally interdependent & culturally diverse world.

  • BUSI 4800, Current Topics in Business: Managing Sustainability in a Global Environment - Open to all undergraduate Business students including Business Honors
  • MGMT 6770, Independent Study: Management: Managing Sustainability in a Global Environment - Open to graduate Business students
