Wuhan University (WHU)
is a comprehensive and key national university directly under the administration of China’s Ministry of Education, and it’s one of the top ten universities in China. WHU covers a wide range of disciplines and is honored as the "Most Beautiful University in China". Since its establishment, Wuhan University has cultivated more than 300,000 professional talents in various occupations.

WHU offers many courses in English
in Communications, Engineering, Economics, Management, Nursing, and Commerce. There is no language requirement for courses taught in English. For Chinese-taught courses, students must have passed a HSK5 or above. Chinese language courses are also available at all levels. There is a full Chinese Language program for a semester as well.
WHU Summer Program
Each summer, WHU offers the Luojia International Summer Program. The theme is "Understanding China: Past & Present".
"It aims to build an international exchange platform to help foreign students know more about China and Wuhan University.
Every year, around 30 university students from all over the world will assemble in Wuhan university to experience the study and daily life in Chinese style for one month. The Luojia International Summer Program offers students the chance to study a three-week exciting programme in Wuhan University and investigate a one-week fascinating programme in other cities. So then, students will have the opportunity to gain a valuable and comprehensive insight into the innovation and development of China."
2018 Summer Course:
Understanding China: Past and Present
Involves Chinese language, culture, history, economy, geography, politics, legal system, diplomacy, education and transcultural communication. All lectures will be conducted in English. Students can also enjoy some traditional culture experience, such as Tai Chi, Xin Yi Quan, Chinese painting and paper-cutting. Besides, the programme includes eight cultural immersion trips in Wuhan.
The main focus for this year’s summer programme will be the Maritime Silk Road. The one-week investigation programme will be fieldtrip to the historical cities of Quanzhou and Xiamen, important ports in the historical Maritime Silk Road, to examine their historical significance and references to the One Belt One Road Initiative.

With the completion of the Request for Prior Approval of Transfer Credit of Study Abroad Programs form, your credits (not grades) will transfer toward your degree at UMass Boston. This form can be obtained from the Study Abroad office.
Fall semester: September- Early January

Undergraduate and graduate students who have currently completed at least one year of full-time study with the most recent semester completed at UMass Boston are eligible. Students must be in good academic standing (2.75 GPA).
Once you have completed this online application AND paid your study abroad fee/deposit to the Office of Global Programs, you will be nominated to WHU for the term you are applying. Once WHU accepts your nomination you will need to apply online, here: http://fses-admin.whu.edu.cn/member/login.do

WHU has on campus single rooms reserved for exchange students. The cost is 1200-1400 RMB per month.
Must fill out the Application Form for Pick-up Service and email it to Ms. Chen Suyi at email@example.com at least 1 week before arrival.
As a UMass Boston student, you are automatically covered by the UMB International Travel insurance. You will be issued a policy number and log-in after your acceptance to the program. At WHU however, all students are required to pay for the local health insurance according to the regulation of our country. The cost is 300 RMB per semester, 600 RMB per year. You can buy the insurance when registering.
You are responsible for obtaining the correct visa before you travel.
United States citizens are required to obtain a visa for entry into China. For information about student visas (X1 or X2) see the Chinese Consulate website
.Some visas can take several weeks to obtain. Make sure you understand the requirements for your specific visa.

Pre-decision Phase Instructions:
This is a UMass Boston Reciprocal Exchange Program. There are two separate applications. First, students apply to the program by completing this online UMass Boston application. If eligible to study abroad, the UMass Boston Study Abroad Office nominates the student to the university abroad. The student is then informed with a letter or an email about next steps to complete the university's abroad application (online or hard copy forms). Please click here for application instructions.
Post-decision Phase Instructions:
The final decision to accept a student is made by the university abroad and the student will be emailed. Once accepted by the university abroad, UMass Boston students must complete all the requirements indicated by the university abroad, in addition to completing all forms and submitting all the post-acceptance documents to UMass Boston Study Abroad Office.
