J-Term E: American Diplomacy Tour

  YOUR ASA EXPERIENCE
You will receive individualized support from ASA’s advisors and staff throughout your program application process, while you are abroad, and when you return. You will also receive a detailed pre-departure orientation guide which will help you know what to pack, what to expect when you arrive, and how to stay safe while abroad.

Once you arrive you will participate in our onsite orientation with the other ASA students in your group. ASA’s site director will introduce you to your host city and culture through orientation and multiple events during the program. Our intentionally small group sizes allow ASA’s students to get to know one another and are an aspect of our programs for which our alumni consistently express their appreciation. You will have opportunities to meet other students and lots of new people through your classes and social events.

ASA programs include excursions, housing, meals, cell phones, academic credits, transcripts, airport pick-up on arrival, medical insurance and more! Contact ASA or your advisor to learn about ASA’s Price Guarantee for all of our programs.
 COURSES
An exciting academic and cultural experience in France, Morocco, and Belgium for students interested in learning about modern American diplomacy and the people who make it happen. Students will go behind the scenes at U.S. embassies in Europe and North Africa to meet U.S. diplomats at the forefront of American engagement. Cultural visits, Embassy briefings and academic lectures by IAU scholars and resident experts will place U.S. policies in their historic and geographic context, provide real-world examples of how American diplomats work, and explore the economic, security and environmental issues they face.

Cities Visited: Marseilles, Paris, Aix-en-Provence, Rabat, Tangiers, Casablanca, Brussels.

Students on J-Term E will take the same interdisciplinary class and may earn 3 credits for one of the following courses, of their choosing:

Political Science 345: American Diplomacy in Action – U.S. Engagement in the 21st Century
International Relations 345: American Diplomacy in Action – U.S. Engagement in the 21st Century
Peace Studies 345: American Diplomacy in Action – U.S. Engagement in the 21st Century.
