London, England - UAL Summer Program

  YOUR ASA EXPERIENCE
You will receive individualized support from ASA’s advisors and staff throughout your program application process, while you are abroad, and when you return. You will receive a detailed pre-departure orientation guide which will help you know what to pack, what to expect when you arrive, and how to stay safe while abroad.

Once you arrive you will participate in our onsite orientation with the other ASA students in your group. ASA’s site director will introduce you to your host city and culture through orientation and multiple events during the program. Our intentionally small group sizes allow ASA’s students to get to know one another and are an aspect of our programs for which our alumni consistently express their appreciation. You will have opportunities to meet other students and lots of new people through your classes, social events and optional language partners.

ASA programs include excursions, volunteer opportunities, housing, meals, academic credits, transcripts, mobile phones, airport pick-up on arrival, medical insurance and more! Contact ASA or your advisor to learn about ASA’s Price Guarantee for all of our programs.
 COURSES
Five of the colleges which comprise University of the Arts London are open to ASA students: Camberwell College of Arts, Central Saint Martins (CSM), London College of Communication (LCC), Chelsea College of Arts, and Wimbledon College of Arts.  Each college has a unique focus, approach, and degrees offered. Summer classes at University of the Arts London are taken with a mix of American study abroad students, international students, and some British students.

Students attending a summer session at University of the Arts London will take 1 class per session and earn 3 semester credits (90 contact hours) during a 3 week term. Summer studies at University of the Arts London tend to be intensive, meeting 6-7 hours a day, Mon-Fri, for 3 weeks.  However, most students find the intensity of the academics to be quite stimulating! Studying abroad at UAL requires that the student be somewhat independent, as the coursework is more project based, as opposed to lecture based. While students will have plenty of guidance available from their instructors and may attend lectures and visits, much of the work is done independently.  Past students have reported that this teaching style gave them more freedom to create and explore than they had ever experienced before.

"ASA was very involved in the entire study abroad process. They give you more than the typical study abroad package. ASA is always available to answer questions and help you through the entire study abroad process." Ashley Grewe – University of Minnesota, Duluth
