The main features of the program:
  • seminar (in English) on “Energy-Efficient and Sustainable Building and Construction“
  • a one-week field trip to Munich and southern Germany as part of the seminar
  • German language courses (beginner and intermediate)
  • an introduction to German culture, the state of Hessen and the “city of science” Darmstadt
  • lots of fun activities with fellow participants and German students
General information:
The International Summer University of Hochschule Darmstadt is a four-week intensive program which runs in summer.

It offers a state-of-the-art introduction into “Energy-efficient and Sustainable Building and Construction“. The program combines lectures and seminars from professors from the department of Civil Engineering with hands-on experience and lectures of practitioners during field trips in Germany. Participants will also have the chance to improve or start learning German in intensive German-as-a-Foreign-Language classes. 3 credits for the engineering course.  German language is 3 credits beginner or intermediate.

The International Summer University also aims to provide an insight into German life and culture. Therefore, the ISU Team has a variety of activities prepared for all participants outside the classroom. The team will be available 24/7 during the summer university.

Academic program:
The academic program of ISU Darmstadt consists of two parts: first of all you will attend a seminar on “Energy-Efficient and Sustainable Building and Construction”.

The duration of the language course will be 31 contact hours including a final exam. The classes are planned and provided by the h_da language center, which has long-standing experience in teaching foreign languages. You will be taught by highly qualified instructors of German as a foreign language who will pay special attention to your personal learning needs and interests. Class sizes of no more than 12 students guarantee intensive learning.
