- Not Included: Round-trip air, transportation from airport to Pforzheim University in Germany (buddy will organize this transfer with you), meals, see below detail
- Billed by UML, due with summer session 1 bills (May) = $300.00 + $30 registration fee
- Billed by Pforzheim, you pay directly in mid-March, instructions to pay are given to the accepted students = 6450 euro
- RT flight = you can review google flights for the arrival and departure day from USA (whatever airport you prefer) into Frankfurt (this is the most common city used in past years by students). Students usually book in early March or late February.
- Transportation to/from airport in Germany = sometimes the Pforzheim buddy arranges your transfer and sometimes (if we have enough students arriving around similar hours) Pforzheim’s EMIG program arranges a group bus. In these instances there is no cost to you. But if you end up having to arrive and transfer yourself I’d plan about $200 USD for both legs…this is aiming high but just in case you prefer uber/taxi.
- Daily meals = there will be a couple group meals (welcome/farewell/group day trip) but overall you’ll purchase your own food daily. Your housing will be shared apartment with kitchen so you can certainly save costs by doing some grocery shopping. Past students said 30USD per day is more than enough to eat well.
- Do you have a passport yet? If not, this is a cost and you can review this here (if you need to renew or apply do this right away, processing can take up to 3months) https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/passports.html
- Personal spending = well, this is certainly up to you. I’m sure you’ll want to do a bit of site-seeing and possible travel to another city or country (France is very close, as is Switzerland). For this we suggest you do a bit of travel planning such as reviewing flight costs to/from the cities you intend to travel (or trains) and hotel reviewing. We also recommend giving yourself a total budget for personal spending and stick to it, thereby selecting your free time exploration based within your budget. There will be other students looking to do free-time travel who you could share costs with. So starting with your budget and then planning later once you know who else is attending may be a good idea.
